10 Mind-Blowing Facts You Never Knew About Farscape
5. Playing Multiple Characters
It isn't uncommon to have actors play different characters in a series. Farscape is given a unique opportunity to easily hide these recurring actors under prosthetics and body paint. Even some of the main cast got in on playing other characters, voicing some of the alien life forms that crossed their paths.
Jonathan Hardy voices our favorite Hynerian, Dominar Rygel XVI, but the actor makes an appearance in the Season 2 episodes "Look at the Princess: Part 2" and "Look at the Princess: Part 3" as the Leviathan deity Kahaynu.
Throughout Season 1 Lani Tupu's obsessive Captain Bialar Crais chases the crew of Moya across the universe, seeking revenge for the death of his brother. Lani was also the voice of Moya's Pilot, making any scenes where the two characters are interacting really just the actor talking to himself.
A late addition to the Moya crew, the actress who played spacey, three-eyed Utu-Noranti Pralatong wasn't a new comer to the series. Melissa Jaffer actually played 2 characters before becoming the fahrbot granny in space. She voiced Moya's first pilot and played the older Luxan priestess Nilaam.
One actress appeared in every season of Farscape, including The Peacekeeper Wars mini-series. Francesca Buller played M'Lee in "Bone in the Wild" from Season 1, ro-NA in two of the "Look at the Princess" three parter from Season 2, Raxil in "Scratch N' Sniff" from Season 3, and Minister Ahkna in four episodes from Season 4 and "The Peacekeeper Wars". Also, fun fact, she is married to Ben Browder. They married in 1989, ten years before Farscape premiered.
