The big romantic relationships in the Star Wars franchise are easy to sum up: There's Anakin and Padmé, and there's Han Solo and Leia Organa. It was an interesting surprise then, when The Clone Wars decided to throw a romance Obi-Wan's way, in the form of peaceable Mandalorian Duchess Satine Kryze.

The early run of the show makes it clear that Obi-Wan and Satine grew close during an earlier mission when the Jedi was sent to protect her; so close, in fact, that he even considered leaving the Order.

Later, they clashed over their different approaches to the war, and constantly fought their feelings for each other until Maul (who we'll get to) overthrew Mandalore and very cruelly killed Satine in front of Obi-Wan, his mortal enemy.

It was one of the show's most emotionally impactful subplots, adding a great amount of complexity to Obi-Wan's backstory and making the rest of his franchise stay all the more tragic.
