10 Moments That Almost Saved True Detective Season 2
2. Frank Faces Ghosts Of The Past As He Bleeds Out In The Desert
If there's one thing that hard boiled crime thrillers like to do, it's set up multiple angles so that an unexpected twist can be served up at a moment's notice. In the case of the fate of Frank Semyon it comes in the shape of the cartel members he previously cut a deal with on the nightclubs, looking for compensation after he burned them to the ground. After trading his cash for diamonds and collecting his passport, Frank is almost in the clear, ready to fly out to Venezuela to meet up with Jordan. But on the way he's accosted by the cartel gangsters, who drive him out to the desert where a hole in the ground awaits him. He hands over the $1 million tucked away in his suitcase, but when asked for his suit he refuses, since this is where his diamonds are stashed. After stabbing Frank in his side the cartel members drive off, leaving him to die in the desert. As he stumbles along in the searing heat, past victims appear to him in hallucinations until he finally collapses to the ground and dies.
