9. The Master
The Master is the first power-hungry vampire Buffy has a serious run in with. He is an ancient vampire that was part of the Order or Aurelius, a cult hell-bent on resurrecting a group of demons called the Old Ones.
Unlike other vampires we see in the series, The Master's features are much more pronounced and he is only seen in his demon form. He has small red eyes and is visibly aged marking him as much older than the other bloodsuckers we had encountered at this point, and therefore much stronger as well. Visually identifying him as something different immediately heightened his fear factor.
We see the full extent of his power when he easily bests our super strong Slayer, Buffy, in battle and drinks her blood. This gives him the extra power he needs in order to escape from his imprisonment and release chaos onto Sunnydale and the world. It takes the combined strength of all the Scooby Gang including the Angel to defeat him. A truly powerful villain.
