it may not seem like the most arduous task in the world, but picking an anime to watch is genuinely a painstaking decision. Choose the right one and you'll be transported into a world that will have you hooked instantly, and trying to convince your non-anime watching pals that this is the one that will finally change their minds.

However, if you don't do the required research into what you're going to commit to, your chances of being left utterly unsatisfied are extremely high.

We understand that there's a lot to select from out there. Trying to figure out which one is going to be worth your while can be daunting. If you've been put off by the sheer amount on offer and don't have the time to find the right show for your tastes, then you'll be happy to know that we've done the hard work for you.

We've gone through an abundance of anime - some good, some extremely bad - and picked shows that we guarantee you'll enjoy.

From hilarious high school comedies filled with side-splitting humour to brutally violent action shows filled with enough blood and bullets to satisfy any fan of the shonen genre, we've got you more than covered.

Let's begin...

10. Hellsing Ultimate

When you think of top places to find great anime shows, you'd be forgiven if Amazon Prime didn't instantly spring to mind. Sure, it's got its fair share of really amazing scripted shows, but when it comes to anime, it's not exactly known for being a hub that all fans should flock too.

However, with their Funimation Now add-on, you'll have an insane amount of anime available to you at the click of a button including this particularly violent epic, Hellsing Ultimate.

If you're looking for ultra-violent battle scenes filled with flying bullets, gory moments that will test your mettle and one of the greatest anime transformation scenes you'll ever bear witness to, then stop whatever you're watching and put this on.

The show follows main protagonist and badass vampire, Alucard, and the rest of the Hellsing Organisation as they do battle with the various forces of evil who threaten England.

Alucard isn't your typical anime hero. Unlike many of his heroic anime counterparts, the level of brutality he uses during fights is somewhat disturbing. He shows no mercy whatsoever and considering the sadistic smile on his face whenever he pulls the trigger on his primary weapon, The Jackal, you can tell he enjoys his work very much.

While he's very much the centrepiece of the story, supporting characters like his assistant Seras and his arch-nemesis Alexander Anderson. There are certainly some interesting plot points, but this is more like John Wick for anime fans, where most of the focus and enjoyment will comes from the action on display.
