10 More Animes You Must Watch Before You Die

If you're not a newbie to anime and have watched your fair share already, you'll be aware that when it comes to the quality of the animation, not all shows are created equal.

While one may look as beautiful as a painting by Picasso and prove how stunning the genre can be, another could look like it's been drawn by yours truly and that's not something anyone wants to see.

Luckily, critically-acclaimed anime series, Mushishi, certainly falls into the category of being beautiful. In fact, it could be argued that it's one of the most stunning anime ever created. Artland, the studio that helped create this wonderfully colourful world that Mushishi is set in, are known for creating beautifully made anime, but they really outdid themselves with this award-winning masterpiece.

Although the animation is what brings the audience to the table, the plot of Mushishi is just as captivating.

The show follows Mushi Master, Ginko, as he travels around 19th century Japan, attempting to help and protect people suffering from illnesses caused by creatures called Mushi. These creatures have supernatural powers and can't be seen by the vast majority of human beings. However, Ginko is one of the few capable of finding these things and we follow him as he does so.

If you're looking for fast-paced, action filled shonen, then you'll find plenty further on in this list, but Mushishi isn't one of them. This is a thoughtful show that whisks you off into a brilliant, yet strange world filled with intriguing characters and interesting episodic plots.
