10 More Animes You Must Watch Before You Die
2. Jojo's Bizarre Adventure
If you're a newbie anime fan, then Jojo's Bizarre Adventure might not be the first anime that sticks out to you - or even the first one someone recommends you watch.
However, there's a reason the manga has been regularly published since 1987, and why the 2012 anime adaptation has proven itself to be just as successful, and that's because the story of the Joestar family is one hell of a ride.
The show starts at the back end of the 19th century in England and follows Jonathan Joestar, a young man born into a wealthy family who finds himself with an adoptive brother, Dio Brando, who has his own agenda and zero interest in developing any sort of real relationship with Jonathan.
While the beginning feels of he show is some sort of strange, over-the-top family drama, it really does stay true to its title, as the story bringing Jonathan and the show's many protagonists on a strange, yet wonderful journey that involves Jack The Ripper, vampires and the Italian mafia.
All this is great and certainly enjoyable. However, the real brilliance of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure comes from its numerous pop culture references, which frankly, are absolutely hilarious.
You'll struggle to find another show that manages to fit in a brilliant reference to the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, end an epic season finale using this song and a whole lot more too.
