10 More Animes You Must Watch Before You Die

3. Tokyo Ghoul

When it comes to binge-worthy anime you can watch on Netflix, Tokyo Ghoul should absolutely be near or at the very top of your list. At twelve episodes long, it's on the shorter end in terms of length, but don't let that fool you into thinking the story won't be long enough to be worthwhile.

We're introduced to the show's main protagonist, Ken Kaneki, a young man who is very much a loner and could even be seen as weak by some. However, his life is forever change after he's nearly killed by a ghoul, a super-powered being that looks like a human, yet has super-enhanced strength and regenerative powers.

While his life is saved due to an operation, the doctor who performs the surgery uses some of the ghoul's organs to keep him alive, which turn him into a half-ghoul, half-human hybrid. Watching Kaneki struggle with what he once was and what he's becoming makes for fantastic viewing. Especially for anyone who likes their anime to lean towards a darker tone.

The show's director, Shuhei Morita, writer, Chūji Mikasano, alongside legendary studio Pierrot, don't waste a single second of any episode.

Whether it's combination of a beautifully created world filled with some of the most goriest animation you'll ever see or the incredible soundtrack that accompanies it, Tokyo Ghoul is bloody great in every single way you can imagine.
