10 More Most Paused Star Trek Moments
Turns out, Star Trek has a lot of freeze frame-able moments!
After the wild success of our previous list of paused moments in Star Trek, the time was right to put together the next ten most paused moments in the franchise based on a combination of those that didn't make the first cut, with suggestions from our audience as well. Omissions, requests, and generally funny feedback rose to the top, leading us back to this place.
There are dozens of moments still that warrant a closer look or have burned themselves in infamy. The famous facepalm or Picard's speech to the Ferengi Daimon have both become classic frames in their own right, while Seven of Nine, Trip, Riker, and T'Pol have all been responsible for more than a few broken VCRs along the way.
Continuing with our trend of a mix of pure geek-gasms and, of course, other-gasms, the entries here offer a nicely balanced mix of just what the show has come to offer in the last fifty-eight years.
10. Star Trek: Episode 2009
J.J. Abrams took over the reigns of the franchise in 2009, with the first Kelvin-universe film being the result of this. While the film was a massive success at the box office, it took a little while for some of the long-term fans' hearts to warm toward it. It is now considered a fun and upbeat modern adventure, though it was also a teaser that no one knew they were watching.
Abrams would of course switch franchises, moving from Star Trek to Star Wars with The Force Awakens. But in 2009, a little cameo occurs just as the Enterprise arrives at the Vulcan battlefield. There, floating for all to see, is the most famous astromech droid in any Galaxy.
While this wasn't the first appearance of a Star Wars character in Star Trek, nor even R2's first appearance to be fair, this was one of the more fun blink-and-you'll-miss-it moments featuring the droid. He would also appear in the sequel as well, with another disaster befalling the Enterprise. Come to think of it, the appearance of R2-D2 around the Enterprise usually spells doom for all concerned. The very first appearance of the droid took place back in Q, Who? as it made up part of the Borg Cube.
