What it is: Kody Chamberlains story of New Orleans Detective Curt Delatte trying to catch a spree killer before Hurricane Katrina makes landfall.
Why it would be great: People love a good Detective story, especially one with great characters and settings, and New Orleans embodies both of those things. This thrilling story, full of twists and turns, conspiracies, and special abilities keeps you guessing right until the very end. Our protagonist is grieving the loss of his daughter, but pushes on with the investigation because he knows he only has days until the city is evacuated, and all of the evidence is literally washed away. Talk about ramping up the drama! Not only do we get Curts flawed back story, we also get insight into the childhood of the killer, his motivations, and origins. We could even go past this initial story, and delve into how different police work was in the days and weeks post-Katrina. Fighting crime in a flooded city. That hasnt been done before. With the moody setting the Crescent City provides, and plenty of gritty crime action, this would be perfect for fans of the much beloved The Wire or Luther.
