4cbcc3e2ad94cGenre: Noir DetectiveThriller What it is: Kody Chamberlain€™s story of New Orleans Detective Curt Delatte trying to catch a spree killer before Hurricane Katrina makes landfall. Why it would be great: People love a good Detective story, especially one with great characters and settings, and New Orleans embodies both of those things. This thrilling story, full of twists and turns, conspiracies, and special abilities keeps you guessing right until the very end. Our protagonist is grieving the loss of his daughter, but pushes on with the investigation because he knows he only has days until the city is evacuated, and all of the evidence is literally washed away. Talk about ramping up the drama! Not only do we get Curt€™s flawed back story, we also get insight into the childhood of the killer, his motivations, and origins. We could even go past this initial story, and delve into how different police work was in the days and weeks post-Katrina. Fighting crime in a flooded city. That hasn€™t been done before. With the moody setting the Crescent City provides, and plenty of gritty crime action, this would be perfect for fans of the much beloved The Wire or Luther.

Carl has been a comic shop impresario, comic book illustrator, record store clerk, electronic musician, late night radio DJ, club promoter, graphic designer, and other cool things you wish you could be. He mistakenly had purple dreadlocks once. For three years. Which made him way less cool. He doesn't actually know what the word impresario means, and is way too lazy to Google it. Carl is also an American, and for that he apologizes.
