10 More Overlooked Buffy The Vampire Slayer Episodes That Are Secretly Classics

3. No Place Like Home (Season 5, Episode 5)

Buffy The Vampire Slayer
Mutant Enemy

Unlike previous seasons, season five had a more consistent narrative arc that did away with numerous monster-of-the-week episodes in favour of hard-hitting drama. As a result, many feel that all of the episodes bleed into one another and very few stand apart as their own entities.

Whilst that may be true on some level, 'No Place Like Home' defiantly stands against that generalisation and should always be remembered for how it helped to shape the show's direction.

Most notable for being the first appearance of Glory, as well as revealing Dawn's origins, this episode places a rocket up the show's rear-end and raises the stakes to a whole other level by (quite literally) throwing Buffy head-first into a dangerous new scenario that she has very little chance of overcoming.

Aside from Glory's earth-shattering entrance, we also bear witness to Giles' first day as the proprietor of The Magic Box. A highly amusing aside that helps ease us into The Scooby Gang's new headquarters, as well as giving Anya her first taste of capitalist superiority.

It's an important episode for several reasons and one that fans should take the chance to savour on every re-watch.
