10 MORE Times Doctor Who Appeared In Movies
8. Sid And Nancy
The "Sid and Nancy" from the 1986 film of the same name are Sid Vicious, bassist from the punk group the Sex Pistols, and Nancy Spungen, his girlfriend who died after Vicious allegedly stabbed her.
The movie shows off all of the grubby glory that made the Sex Pistols so popular and revered in the 1970s, with Gary Oldman and Chloe Webb giving great renditions of the title characters. The scene where they first meet isn't just pivotal to the rest of the story, but it also has a very unexpected Doctor Who reference.
Vicious and his bandmate Johnny Rotten visit their friend's house and find Nancy there with her. The four talk while the musicians scoff down some baked beans, and Rotten mocks Vicious with a funny voice. Eventually the voice morphs into a robotic one, which Rotten exemplifies by proclaiming "EXTERMINATE!" in the style of the universe's most fearsome dustbins.
It's weird to think that someone as outrageous and anti-mainstream as Johnny Rotten would've sat down every week to watch Tom Baker run around a quarry, but he must've seen at least one episode! Or perhaps he just got swept up in Dalekmania.
