10 More TV Shows That Just Got Cancelled

1. Mr. Mayor

Sitcom king Ted Danson debuted his new series Mr. Mayor in early 2021. He plays a businessman running for mayor of Los Angeles "for all the wrong reasons," and between the reliability of Danson and series co-creator Tina Fey, it seemed primed to be a sure-fire hit.

The first season received mixed reviews for its overly broad style of comedy yet praise for Danson's performance, and even though the show's ratings had halved by the end of the season, its finale still pulled in a respectable 2.53 million U.S. viewers.

Though season two was deemed an improvement by the fanbase, it failed to make much of a dent with critics, who largely didn't even bother to review it.

The show's ratings decline also continued, with the second season bottoming out at 1.49 million U.S. viewers in its penultimate episode.

Literally two days after this episode aired, NBC announced Mr. Mayor's cancellation, as disappointed many given the tendency for NBC sitcoms to only truly find their voice - and their audience - after two or three seasons.
