10 More TV Storylines Actors REFUSED To Do

9. Cooper Dates Audrey - Twin Peaks

It's Always Sunny
ABC

Anyone with a pair of working eyeballs could pick up on the serious sexual tension between Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) and 18-year-old Audrey Horne (Sherilyn Fenn) throughout Twin Peaks, and indeed, David Lynch ultimately planned for this to bloom into a full-on romance.

But MacLachlan, who is six years older than Fenn, objected to the subplot, feeling that it would be inappropriate and out of character for Cooper, an FBI agent, to be dating a high-schooler.

Curiously, however, Fenn claims that the real reason for MacLachlan's refusal was due to his then-partner Lara Flynn Boyle, who played Donna Hayward on the show, being jealous of Fenn's prominence on the series.

Either way, the Coop-Audrey love story was resultingly axed, with Heather Graham's Annie being brought in as a new romantic interest for Coop - who, ironically, was a whole five years younger than Hayward, albeit not playing a high-schooler at least.
