10 More TV Storylines Actors REFUSED To Do

5. Greg's Hair Turns Bright Orange - The Brady Bunch

The Brady Bunch's season six finale, "The Hair-Brained Scheme," would ultimately turn out to be the series' last ever episode when ABC opted not to renew the legendary sitcom for season seven.

That proved rather unfortunate for actor Robert Reed, who portrayed family patriarch Mike Brady and vocally objected to the content of what would unknowingly be the series finale.

In the episode, Mike's son Greg's (Barry Williams) hair turns bright orange when he uses a non-FDA-approved bottle of hair tonic, but Reed felt the storyline was "stupid" enough that he refused to appear in it, writing memos to the show's staff and studio Paramount telling them as much.

As a result, series creator Sherwood Schwartz had Mike Brady conspicuously written out of the episode, with it being rather limply explained that he's out of town.

Hilariously, though, Reed was actually on set when the episode was being filmed regardless. According to co-star Williams, he "[hung] around the set while the episode was being shot, grumbling about its idiocy." Amazing.
