10 More Underhyped Shows That Blew Everyone Away

Considering it's been running for nearly sixty years and is one of the most famous children's programmes in the world, it might be hard to believe that Sesame Street got off to a shaky start and was initially undervalued by PBS studios.

Masterminded in 1966 by writers Joan Ganz Cooney and Lloyd Morrisett, the series was conceived as an educational kids show which would prepare children for school and the complexities of life.

They spent years planning and researching in order to make the show appeal to as many kids as possible, but even with their hard work struggled to get funding from any major networks. It wasn't until Jim Henson came along and got The Muppets involved that Cooney and Morrisett were given funding and a timeslot from PBS.

The show was expected to be a flop when it was finally released in 1969, but to everyone's surprise the years of hard work paid off, and Sesame Street became a massive hit and a cultural landmark, educating kids the world-over and changing the way in which children's TV would be produced for years to come.

I get to write about what I love, so that's pretty cool. Every great film should seem new every time you see it. Be excellent to each other.
