8. So Many Elevator Inconsistencies - The Big Bang Theory

Heroes Claire
CBS

From the very first episode of the eventual comedy juggernaut that became The Big Bang Theory, audiences were made aware of the fact that the elevator in Leonard, Sheldon, and Penny's building was well and truly buggered.

14 episodes in, Leonard then goes out his way to inform his pal Howard that said elevator has been out of commission for two whole years as he attempted to fix it in 2008. However, a few seasons down the road, Leonard later recounts the tale of how this trusty contraption met its broken fate to Penny and a few things simply don't add up.

First of all, during the story of how the elevator broke, Howard was very much present when Leonard's rocket explosion ultimately destroyed it from the inside. Meaning that he knew very well that it wasn't working in that earlier Season One episode and his attempts to figure out what was wrong with it look odd in hindsight.

Also, during the recalling of how the machine ended up out of order, Leonard told Penny the lift broke in 2003, going back on his earlier comment of it being broken in 2006. Best to just forget about it and take the stairs.
