10 Most Awesome Season Finales Of All Time

7. Star Trek: The Next Generation - 'The Best Of Both Worlds' (Season 3)

The Episode:

If the original series is cited as the sci-fi show that blasted a wormhole in the genre, establishing itself as a true trailblazer, its successor is the one that hurtled headlong into said wormhole, delivering everything that its predecessor, only with an eighties sheen, zaps of action, involved storylines and some added William Riker for good measure.

Season three's 'The Best Of Both Worlds' - the first in a two parter, with the second a sure candidate to feature on any best season openers list - has a superb build up, with those bloody Borgs causing mischief with a plan to attack earth, ending in a genuinely scary finale (Borg Picard!) and a cliffhanger closing moment. Rightly cited as the best Next Generation episode of all time.

Best Moment:

That extreme close up on Riker as he utters, 'Mister Worf... fire!' Chills.
