10 Most Creative Fan Tributes To Doctor Who

5. Too Good To Be True

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YD997i_89RM This tribute pretty much shocked everyone... and it nearly had us all duped, too. It all kicked off back in 2013 when a very eager fan of the show had an epiphany, or perhaps it was just an evil turn? Whatever it was, with the show's long awaited 50th anniversary looming, a YouTuber, under the elusive and rather appropriate guise of 'John Smith', made a somewhat convincing trailer to coincide with the Doctor's landmark event. This trailer was by no means the official one (hell, the BBC had to release an official statement to verify that it had absolutely nothing to do with them!), but at first it was far too good to be true. It was created using imagery from previous episodes and a phenomenal use video editing software. He created a remarkable tribute honouring the Time Lord and his fifty year televised milestone was born, with the highest intentions of what could have been. As it turns out, though, it wasn't so far from the reality of The Day of the Doctor. It even caught the attention of showrunner Steven Moffat who revealed he was wholly impressed with the effort. Check out the masterpiece for yourself, though you've seen it countless times already!
