If you've made it this far, you're used to a bit of death and gore - it's about zombies after all - but the lengths of human brutality under duress were really brought to light in Season 5.

Season 4 finished off with the group having reconvened in the most unfortunate of circumstances: captured by a group whose intentions were not yet clear.

All they knew was that they had to find a way out. Before they can, Rick, Daryl, Glenn, and Bob were led away and the truth of Terminus came to light.

The four, alongside another three unknown prisoners and Sam (encountered briefly in an earlier episode), are hogtied and forced to kneel over a long metallic trough while a body is carved up in the background. The tension builds as two butchers approach their first victim, one wielding a baseball bat and the other a curved knife.

We watch as the first butcher to knock Sam out with a single swing of his bat, and for the second to lift Sam's head and slit his throat.

All of the prisoners begin screaming as, one by one, they are gruesomely slaughtered. Although these characters are only introduced in this scene, and our beloved heroes manage to escape, this does not take away from just how sickening and vile this event truly is.
