2. Farewell Mrs Wolowitz
Howard's mother Debbie had an overbearing presence in her son's life. Although her face was never shown on camera, she could always be heard screeching at Howard, with Howard typically shouting back at her. By the sounds of things, the pair didn't get along at all, with only rare occasions showing Howard caring about his mother.
A prime example of this came in season eight. Howard had excused himself from the rest of the group to take a phone call and once he returned, his face told us all we needed to know. His mother had passed away in her sleep while she was visiting Howard's aunt in Florida. Despite never really showing any sort of compassion towards his mother, it was a difficult thing for Howard to hear, and for anyone to hear for that matter.
What made the moment that extra bit emotional was when Sheldon took a moment to show more of his caring side. He stated that when his father died, he had no friends to help him through the traumatic experience. But Howard does. That line alone was enough to make anyone shed a few tears.
