10 Most Emotional Brooklyn Nine-Nine Moments
6. Amy Reveals Her Past - He Said, She Said
"He Said, She Said" was an episode that dealt with dark and real subject matter, which made it a tough one to laugh at. Still, in typical Nine-Nine fashion, you could giggle at the characters as they addressed the issues, but the same cannot be said for this scene.
The episode follows Amy and Jake working on a case that centres around workplace sexual harassment at a high-end office. It becomes clear that female solidarity isn't the only reason Amy is so invested in the case, and that is confirmed once she reveals the tragic circumstances that led to her leaving her last precinct.
Here, Amy reveals that her first captain and former mentor tried to kiss her, claiming that she owed her career to him. Hearing that Amy was put in a position where her boss lorded his power over her was heartbreaking and showed that it could happen to anyone. The point that hammered it home was Amy's tragic line, "this kind of stuff has happened to literally every woman I know".
When Brooklyn Nine-Nine gets honest and authentic, it always hits the nail on the head, and this is an excellent example of that.
