10 Most Emotional Moments In It's A Sin
9. Henry In Hospital
Most people will likely know Neil Patrick Harris for his comedic turn as Barney Stinson on How I Met Your Mother, so it’s really refreshing to see him digging his acting chops into a smaller, but highly significant role in this drama.
Patrick Harris plays Henry Coltrane, a tailor who befriends Colin, one of the main group in the show, and becomes a mentor to him in the first episode, helping Colin come to terms with his sexuality.
And so it is even more heartbreaking when Henry suddenly turns ill, becoming one of the first victims of the AIDS pandemic, which we see through Colin's eyes when he tries to visit his friend in hospital, and witnesses Henry dying on his own in a hospital bed, a physical shell of his former self.
It's the first example within the show that highlights how cruel AIDS really was, but it also shows how little people knew of the disease at the time, when we see that Henry has been quarantined with no-one allowed to come close. Thus we realise that he was one of so many young men with the illness who died alone, with no loved ones around them.
