10 Most Emotional Moments In It's A Sin
4. 'There's Something Wrong With Your Skin'
Moving onto episode four, the focus begins to shift onto our main protagonist Ritchie (Olly Alexander) who, by this point, is on his way to becoming a successful actor, yet still remains in a state of denial after noticing some mild symptoms associated with AIDS.
It's during the filming of a Doctor Who episode (in a brilliant tribute from Russell T Davies) that Ritchie, playing a spaceship crewman, is asked for a close-up shot on him. He's then inspected by a make-up artist who notes there's something wrong with his skin, and it's that comment which gives Ritchie the brutal confirmation he likely has the disease.
It's incredible how the camera actually closes in on Ritchie's face here and we as an audience are able to feel what's he's going through, and real credit to Alexander's acting as we see the panic and the all too real fear etch in on his face. He knows he's just been given a death sentence, and it's far too easy for us to imagine the horror ourselves at receiving such news.
