10 Most Forgettable Episodes Of Doctor Who

7. Boom Town

First broadcast: Saturday 6th June 2005 The TARDIS team embark on a much needed holiday (because the rest of their universal escapades count as work, apparently!) as they set their sights on sunny South Wales to refuel the TARDIS on a rift in time and space that's conveniently positioned a mere stone's throw away from where the series is filmed in Cardiff Bay. Aren't BBC budget restraints a wonderful thing? To give credit where credit's due, Boom Town is an atmospheric character driven piece but it never really stood a chance being nuzzled between Steven Moffat's preceding Empty Child two-parter and the climactic finale. In fact, once you get over the fact that this is an episode in which the Slitheen don't spend the entire time farting (hurrah!), there really isn't that much else to write home about. The moral of the story is, wine and dine someone before you lead them to their execution, because sending someone to their death is still no excuse for bad manners. Still, by the time the Doctor finds himself as a contestant in a killer edition of Big Brother at the start of the next episode, Boom Town is a distant memory.
