10 Most Forgettable Episodes Of Doctor Who

5. Gridlock

First broadcast: Saturday 14th April 2007 Martha Jones gets kidnapped (!!!) and, after knowing her for a grand total of two episodes, viewers are apparently supposed to care. The Face of Boe is back, too, and even the ever popular - *ahem* - Macra get their long overdue 21st century comeback. More's the pity. In Freema Agyeman's defence, though, she played the whole "being dragged off kicking and screaming" thing really well. Actually, that's probably what she was like when Russell T Davies called her in for a meeting to break the news that he was replacing her with Catherine Tate, but that's a discussion for another day. Gridlock, in short, is basically a traffic jam. And a bloody boring one, at that. They try to make it more interesting, of course, by using the never ending plethora of trepidatious travellers as an opportunity to introduce us to some purposefully diverse characters (including a couple of nudist hippies - just 'cause!), but the otherwise sombre story is fuelled by the Doctor's desperate mission to rescue Martha because he basically feels bad that he's spent their entire acquaintance thus far comparing her to Rose. And so you should feel bad, Doctor. So you should! Now let's all sing a hymn and cry about the situation. Cry, god dammit!
