10 Most Hated Battlestar Galactica Episodes
5. Deadlock - Season 4, Episode 16
Ellen Tigh returns to the Galactica to sink another episode. She meets with the final five to discuss whether to leave the colonial fleet, and is far from pleased to learn that Saul impregnated Caprica Six. Ultimately, her jealousy and meddling lead to a miscarriage.
At this point in the series Ellen has retrieved all her memories from her original life yet for some reason her personality in this episode is still that of her old self. This completely flies in the face of everything that happened in the previous episode “No Exit” where Ellen’s memories clearly made her a new person.
The miscarriage is also handled questionably to say the least. Apparently, a Cylon’s mental doubt that her lover actually feels true love can cause an unborn child’s death. It’s a laughable reason, and besides, if true love were required then how was the baby conceived in the first place? Tigh and Six were not what any fan would call in love. All in all, the events in the episode feel blatantly manipulative, dictated more by what the writers need to happen and with events led too much by the irritating Ellen Tigh.
