10 Most Hated Star Trek Characters

4. Soran

Star Trek Generations Soran Malcolm McDowell
Paramount

This one feels almost a little strange to include, as one of the reasons he is among the most hated characters is that he did exactly what he was written to do - he killed Captain Kirk! This led, bizarre as it sounds, to actor Malcolm McDowell receiving death threats from fans who clearly struggled to differentiate reality from fantasy.

However, to add to this, McDowell never felt truly happy with the film. While he delivers a characteristicly strong performance, he felt that the script was not up to scratch. This is something that writers Ronald D. Moore and Brannon Braga also agreed with, admitting that their previous effort - All Good Things - was the superior script.

Love for Star Trek: Generations has grown in the almost thirty years since its release. While Soran may now be the speaker of some truly great lines - 'They say time is the fire in which we burn' - there are still those out there who will forever resent the man who killed their childhood.

You simply can't please everyone!
