10 Most Hated Star Trek Characters

2. Lwaxana Troi

Majel Barrett has both been very lucky and very unlucky in some of the parts that she has played in Star Trek. She voiced Starfleet's computers for most of the '60s, 90's and early '00s, appearing on-screen as well as Number One, Christine Chapel and of course, Lwaxana Troi.

It is in the character of Lwaxana that she perhaps fared least successfully, even with her time as Number One being so short.

Lwaxana was meant to breathe air into the scenes and episodes she appeared in, yet from the off she was overbearing and brash, loud to the point of obnoxious and very rarely interested in the comfort of those around her. She regularly embarrassed her daughter and, though it did bring some comedy, Captain Picard as well.

This is not say that she was not involved in some wonderful episodes. Dark Page is an excellent depiction of grief, told through the eyes of a grieving family, and her relationship with Alexander is simply lovely.

However, episodes like The Muse, Manhunt and Fascination did little to help endear her character to the audience (although to be fair, the scene she shares with Odo is, on its own, a beautiful moment of understanding between these two interesting characters.)
