10 Most Horrifying Technologies In Star Trek
1. Consoles
And finally, the number one most horrifying Star Trek technology, the leading cause of death in Starfleet: exploding consoles.
It seems that no matter what part of the ship happens to be damaged, you can guarantee a console's exploding somewhere. Sometimes it's on the bridge, sometimes engineering, sometimes Jefferies Tubes (another reason why Jefferies Tubes are death-traps) and the worst part is that if someone happens to be standing directly in front of the console it has a 90% higher chance of exploding. It's truly a horrible design.
Also, half the time when the consoles do explode, they launch rocks out at your face. Like, literal rocks. The rest of them typically shoot out sparks of poorly-animated lightning. Either way, you're getting severely hurt and sent to sickbay so some main character with plot-armour can take over for you.
So truly, there are many things to worry about out in space. Privacy, gravity glitches, androids, being disintegrated on a daily basis, but no threat is greater than the risk of being a background character on the bridge.
