10 Most Inappropriate Doctor Who Moments

8. Trivialising Hitler - Let's Kill Hitler

Doctor Who The Doctor Amy Pond Flesh And Stone

Let’s Kill Hitler is one of the more unpopular episodes of NuWho. Whether it be because of the convoluted story, unlikeable versions of Melody Pond/River Song or the rushed conclusion to what ought to have been the pivotal moment of Series 6.

But there was also the small matter of one Adolf Hitler. The TARDIS crashes into the office of history’s most notorious dictator, which opens up a world of possible stories for the writing team. But instead Steven Moffat opted to treat the whole situation as a joke, with Hitler acting more as a comic relief character, for the brief seconds he’s on the screen, eventually getting locked in the cupboard by Rory Williams.

The scene is intended to be played for laughs but given who Hitler was, what he did and what he stood for, that seems rather inappropriate.

It was a serious misstep and one that really degrades the quality of an otherwise great series.
