The sixth episode of the first season is an interesting one. Xander and a group of other students are possessed by hyena spirits that turn them into aggressive bullies who love tormenting their victims.

Midway through the episode, the bullies are summoned to the principal’s office, and – far from being punished – they decide to eat the principal instead. It’s a bizarre and gruesome turn of events that no one saw coming.

Whilst we don’t actually see the butchery taking place, Principal Flutie did not deserve such a gruesome death – he's a decent man who genuinely cares about his students. And his bloody demise is completely out of kilter with the rest of the episode, which is generally quite silly.

Murdering the principal would have been weird enough, but eating him alive? It's just not necessary. After all, the hyena group are supposed to represent high school cliques that hunt down other students – the teachers aren't really relevant.
