10 Most Inappropriate Moments In Buffy The Vampire Slayer

7. Giles Kills Ben

Glory, a goddess from a hell dimension, is the main villain in Season 5. She’s a formidable foe and a drastic improvement over the Big Bad from the previous season.

But Glory is more than just a goddess. She also has to battle against Ben, a human vessel who acts as a prison against Glory. It’s a weird plot point – and a bit unnecessary in the grand scheme of things – even if it does lead to some entertaining twists.

Throughout the fifth season, we get to know Ben, as he’s often working at the Sunnydale Memorial. He’s a wise and caring individual who takes good care of his patients. But despite his kind nature, Giles doesn’t hesitate to suffocate him during the closing stages of the season finale.

Though this was a necessary evil, it was also a brutal way for such a decent character to die. And this moment could have easily been avoided if the writers had simply killed Glory/Ben during the former’s final confrontation with the Slayer.
