10 Most Inappropriate Moments In Star Trek: The Next Generation

9. Drugs Are Good

On the face of it, Tasha Yar's drug speech in the Season 1 episode Symbiosis is, by-and-large, taking the stance that you should never really take drugs. However, the problem with that is in the delivery, as the only line spoken with any actual conviction is "drugs can make you feel good". She seems so happy with this admission that she might as well have just winked and tapped her nose.

"They make you feel on top of the world! You're happy, sure of yourself, in control! It doesn't feel artificial until the drug wears off". As far as dissuading the show's millions of young fans from ever trying them goes, this probably ranks up there with telling them to look both ways before crossing the road, even though getting hit by a bus is the closest you'll ever come to flying.

"I guess I'll just never understand," says Wesley Crusher, in closing. What a nice, well-behaved young man, whose life of resisting temptation and staying on the straight and narrow managed to lead him to... let me just check my notes here... ah yes, recklessly endangering the lives of his fellow classmates, participating in an illegal training manoeuvre that got one of them killed, and then lying to cover the event up.

If only he'd taken drugs, all this could have been avoided.
