10 Most Inappropriate Moments In Star Trek: The Original Series

2. The Crew Do Not Practice Preventative Measures In A Viral Outbreak - The Naked Time

If you thought The Enterprise Incident was the crew's most inappropriate hour, you should see The Naked Time. The story centres around a mysterious space virus that gets its carriers drunk and emotional. That's right: we get a whole episode of Starfleet's finest acting like teenagers at their first house party.

However, the most troubling aspect of this episode is not Sulu running around topless with a sword, Spock breaking down in tears when he discovers he has emotions, or Lieutenant Kevin Riley taking over the intercom and singing old Irish folk ballads. It's the absolute lack of care the entire crew take in trying to stop the spread of the virus.

There is SO MUCH face touching in this episode, and even more hand holding. It seems that any chance a crew member gets, they're either grabbing their friends' hands or vigorously rubbing their own face. Nobody washes their hands once, and there isn't a pair of sterile gloves in sight. That's just not good practice for a working community living in a confined space, who should really know better by the 23rd Century.
