4. Professor Frink

If you don't know Professor Frink's full name, it kind of comes as a revelation the first time you see it. Professor Johnathan I.Q. Neidelbaum Frink Jr. A.B., B.Sc., Ph.D., M.R.S.C., C.Chem, M.Phil, M.A. No nerdier name exists in the world. The Simpsons' resident scientist has created some of Springfield's greatest inventions, like the Frinkahedron, the Frinkiak-7 Computer and the Frinkosonic MHV.

Professor Frink has spent a lifetime building his reputation as a respected...well, widely known scientist and inventor as well as one of the biggest dorks in town. With a barrage of nonsensical jargon, he arrives on the scene of any number of situations, makes some weird noises and offers a plan that makes virtually no sense.

He's not the inventor Springfield needs but he's the one it deserves.
