Played:Jill, Rachels thoroughly spoiled sister
Rachel has two sisters, Jill and Amy; both have made guest appearances throughout the series run. Amy, played by Christina Applegate was certainly on the other side of the spectrum as was Jill, but I never particularly grew fond of Applegates performance whilst Witherspoons radical portrayal was one I always found hilarious. It was almost as if Amy was too much, even for this illogically balanced world. But Jill was, in a way, believable yet over-the-top at the same time. Her competitive nature with Rachel at dating Ross was innocent in a classic-bitch way and Witherspoon channelled every aspect of Queen Bitch to make it work. In a way, the cameo worked well because it contrasted Rachel with when she first appeared on our screens and the way she is now. She takes great pride in being the only daughter that Dad is proud of and the one that has learned the value of money and she believes she can take her younger sister under her wing. Of course, she cant and hilarity ensues.
