10 Most Memorable Friends Cameos

3. Hugh Laurie

€œI just want to say that you are a horrible, horrible person; you say you love this man and yet you€™re about to ruin the happiest day of his life. I€™m afraid I have to agree with your friend €œFeebs,€ this is a terrible, terrible plan. And by the way, it seems to be perfectly clear that you were on a break€€

Played:Bloke on plane, forced to sit and listen to the €˜Ross and Rachel€™ saga, condensed. This is arguably one of my favourite cameos, just because Hugh Laurie has a screen-time of about 50-seconds and doesn€™t waste one of them. From start to finish, he embodies a character that is so dislikeable yet so attractively funny that it€™s almost a shame he€™s not featured more. That being said, I€™m glad his role was kept to a minimum €“ that way it makes it all the funnier. As Rachel boards a plane for London, intent on ruining Ross€™s wedding to Emily by telling him that she loves him, she is perched next to Laurie, a visibly frustrated man who has zero-tolerance for Rachel€™s enthusiasm. The money-shot is when he interrupts Rachel€™s tale of woe to explain that he agrees with Phoebe in that Rachel€™s plan is awful and she€™s a bad person for doing it. When she explains that she thinks he€™s wrong, his mock terror is just perfect. It€™s so simple, so minimalist and so funny. Laurie plays it to perfection. For Community fans, be sure to check out Jim Rash€™s 2-minute cameo in the series finale as another €˜disgruntled€™ plane passenger.
