6. Zoom Kills Henry
Zoom was a frightening villain, wasn’t he? The first time we see him and Barry on screen together, he completely and utterly decimates the Scarlet Speedster.
Zoom was bound and determined to make Barry just like him. How would he go about this? Oh, just by murdering his father right in front of him of course.
Zoom is perhaps the most terrifying villain in the Arrowverse. On Earth-2, Zoom was a notorious serial killer who gained his speed after dark matter hit him as he was being executed for his crimes. His goal was to steal the speed force of other speedsters, as his own speed was killing him. Think of his plan as somesimilar to a blood transfusion, but with the speed force.
What made this death so shocking was that Henry had just been released from prison after being falsely accused for murdering his wife. Barry was finally starting to find happiness, only for Zoom to run into Joe West’s house and kidnapping Henry right in front of them. Not only did Zoom kill Henry in front of Barry, he did so in the same room that Thawne killed Barry’s mother.
Zoom broke Barry to the point where Barry couldn’t even commit to a relationship with Iris, despite wanting nothing more than to be with her for so many years. No villain that Barry has gone up against had terrified him as much as Zoom has, and this is one of the main reasons why.
