8. The Walking Dead - Heads On Spikes (S9 Ep15 The Calm Before)
This distressing episode showed Daryl, Michonne, Carol and Yumiko released after being captured by Alpha and her Whisperers. Before they left, she gave them a speech about how they could live peacefully alongside the Whisperers so long as they stayed out of their territory. She made sure to tell them that she had clearly marked the borderline of their territory for them.
As they are walking home, they find a beaten and bloody Siddiq tied to a tree, who points to the 'border', gruesomely marked by ten spikes, each topped by the zombified head of a protagonist character. The camera paused on each person in turn, and it took fans some pausing to work out that the unhappy victims were Tara, Henry, Enid, Tammy Rose, Ozzy, Alek, DJ, Addy, Rodney and Frankie. It was a tremendous shock to lose so many main characters at once.
On the bright side, it could have been worse, as the comics included Ezekiel and Rosita as decapitated heads, which would have brought the total number to suffer this fate to 12.
