10 Most Powerful Weapons In The Stargate Universe

Why destroy a planet when you can annihilate an entire species across the cosmos with one device?

When Stargate hit theaters in 1994, few could have imagined it would go on to spawn an expansive franchise consisting of multiple series and films. That’s exactly what happened, and Stargate exploded with exceptional characters, great actors, brilliant writers, and unbelievable settings.

Whether you’re a fan of SG-1, Atlantis, Universe, Origins, or Infinity, odds are, you know a lot about the franchise. Elements from the movie carried over into SG1, and from there, the series influenced the ones that followed. Because of this, many of the alien species, technologies, and weapons showed up in one series or the other, bridging the gap to form a cohesive universe.

Much of the technology that appeared throughout the franchise was otherworldly, and the weapons were especially powerful. Whether something was a simple sidearm or a planet-devastating beam of energy, odds are, it was turned up to 11 to make it into something truly devastating.

This list looks back at the franchise’s many weapons to find out which one is the most powerful. Don’t expect to find many weapons of the tau’ri on here — A P90 may be effective against a single Jaffa, but it doesn’t hold a candle to some of the more impressive weapons seen throughout Stargate.

10. Ancient Satellite

When the people of Earth found Atlantis, they discovered a highly technological city that was uninhabited. This was due to the war between the Lanteans and the Wraith, which resulted in the city being submerged and abandoned, but it wasn't completely devoid of defenses — Atlantis still had Ancient satellites.

The Ancient weapons platforms were situated between the planet and moon at the Lagrange Point, and they packed a serious punch. The Ancient satellites were nearly as large as a Goa'uld Ha'tak-class starship, and one remained when the humans discovered it, though it was heavily damaged.

When the Wraith dispatched three Hive ships to the Lantean system, members of the Atlantis expedition attempted to make it work. Because its power requirements were considerably low, it could be powered via a single Naquadah generator. Unfortunately, it was damaged, so it only managed to destroy a single ship.

The remaining Hive ships managed to destroy the satellite before it could be repaired for another shot. Despite being destroyed, the ease at which it destroyed a massive Hive ship revealed just how powerful the Ancient satellites were. Had it been fully-powered, it would have easily taken out all three ships.
