When going up against a superior enemy, sometimes, the weapon needed to defeat them is time. That's how the Asgard opted to handle their Replicator problem, and they did so with a Time Dilation Device that artificially changed the normal passage of time within a radius of 0.16 light-years.

When activated, the Time Dilation Device rendered local time to a near standstill. Anyone caught in the field would feel the normal passage of time, but it was experienced differently outside its radius. It was designed to make a year within the field take 10,000 years elsewhere in the universe.
