10 Most Satisfying Star Trek Moments

6. Khan's Promise

"He tasks me... he tasks me and I shall have him. I'll chase him round the moons of Nibia and round the Antares Maelstrom and round Perdition's Flames before I give him up."

Immortal words spoken by the nemesis of James Kirk, Khan Noonien Singh. Stranded on a dead world for years, Khan yearned for revenge against Kirk for marooning him there, so when the opportunity to enslave the crew of the USS Reliant and take over the ship came to him, the ancient warlord seized the chance.

The Reliant and the Enterprise would be caught in a deadly game of cat and mouse within the dense Mutara Nebula and when Khan's son asks why they shouldn't just leave with their prize of the Genesis Device, Khan replies with those words. The smile at the end of his pledge shows that he knows that this could well cost him his life, could well cost all of his people their lives, but he must have his pound of flesh.

While the film had been truly excellent up until that point, those words were one of the most satisfying declarations by a villain committed to his revenge. Even amongst a movie of so many perfect moments like Spock's sacrifice and Kirk's scream of frustration, this solemn pledge that Khan will never give up is unrivalled gold.

Still bitter that Star Trek Enterprise got canned and almost old enough to angrily tell the kids to 'Get Off My Lawn!'
