10 Most Shocking Bojack Horseman Moments
8. Bojack Seduces A Minor And Her Mother
‘When you’re an adult, the right thing isn’t always the best thing.’ Bojack says this just before doing the absolute worst thing. What Bojack means by the best thing is unclear and certainly subjective, but objectively Bojack struggles to do the right thing throughout the entire episode.
In fact, throughout, he pretty much consistently does the wrong thing. He runs away from LA and his role as Secretariat, in pursuit of the one that got away, Charlotte. He inserts himself into her idyllic family with the intention and seducing her.
Though briefly distracted from this seduction by the wholesome family he so craves, he ultimately can’t resist his original intention. Before that, though he gets their young daughter, Penny, and her friends drunk, giving one of them alcohol poisoning.
He then covers up his involvement by manipulating her boyfriend. Immediately after this, he demonstrates a glimmer of understanding what the right thing is by resisting the advances from Penny. Moments later, Bojack kisses Penny’s mother, Charlotte, who pulls away and asks him to leave. Rejected by the mother Bojack settles for the daughter.
Fortunately, he’s caught before having sex with Penny. Would he have done it? We don’t know, but in subsequent seasons Bojack is so haunted by this thing he didn’t do, that he seems to know that he would have done it.
Subjectively, we love Bojack, but objectively is he the bad guy in his own show?
