1. The Governor's Revenge (S3E10 - "Home")
After rescuing Maggie and Glenn from Woodbury, Merle and Daryl separated from the group, and the prison was now at risk of retaliation from The Governor. As Rick goes off the deep end after seeing the ghost of Lori, Glenn takes action and decides he needs to step up and lead the group. At first he wants to take Michonne and assassinate The Governor the night after he was just rescued from Woodbury. Hershel talks him out of it and the Glenn chooses to first deal with the problem of one of the exposed areas that Tyrese and his group used to enter the prison. At Woodbury we see that The Governor now wants Andrea to lead Woodbury and he says that he wont retaliate against the prison group. The sad part is that we actually believe him. During a pleasant moment between Carol and Axel (the last surviving prisoner) a bullet is fired, that hits Axel directly in the head. The shot transitions to The Governor and a few of his men aggressively attacking the prison with automatic weapons. This was the start of a vengeance so incredible and riveting that it kept you on the edge of your seat. The scene had Carol using Axel as a human shield, Rick using a log for cover, and Maggie taking out a shooter in a watchtower. The Governor had more up his sleeve then just a firefight, he also had someone drive through the gates of the prison and drop off a herd of walkers on the already weakened prison. The third person shot of Michonne running through the field cutting off the heads of walkers in the prison yard was simply magical. The previous episode had a well-executed gun fight and as an audience we didnt really expect retaliation of this magnitude so soon after the rescue. Thats what makes The Walking Dead such a captivating show; you never know whats going to happen next.
