2. Four Episodes In (S3E4 "Killer Within")
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xhRvkmzWHNY Four episodes into the third season and we are graced with one of the greatest single episodes of the series. Why was it so great? The episode was just so unexpected this early into a season. The group was getting used to living at the prison, relationships were being mended, and everything seemed right in the world. The episode quickly transitioned from peaceful to chaotic in a matter of moments when a huge wave of walkers breached the courtyard of the prison. A huge battle took place involving the entire group and we lost three major cast members (although one was found a few episodes later) and gained a new member to the group. Even though he was not a strong presence in the group (or even seen much of the second season for that matter) T-Dog became a fan favorite over the last three seasons. He died rather heroically trying to save Carol and was then devoured by walkers. This insane episode also contained the sick and medieval birth of Loris child. Carl, Maggie, and Lori escape the horde and lock themselves in the boiler room of the prison. With the baby on the way, Maggie has to step up and deliver her. In a stunning turn of events, Lori surpassingly dies while giving birth. The most shocking moment of all comes when before they leave the room, Carl goes back and shoots his dead mother to prevent her from being reanimated. This is the defining moment that shattered Carls innocence.
