10 Most Shocking Moments In Squid Game
7. Cho Sang-Woo Ends The Game, And Himself
There is one thing that's constant throughout the series, and that's the relationship between Sang-Woo and Gi-Hun. These childhood friends were taken in different directions in life, but both ended up at the same place, and it's easy to how their relationship with money/people caused that.
On the one hand, you have Gi-Hun, who is irresponsible and reckless with his finances and his own life, but shows great signs of compassion and concern for others. However, on the other hand, Sang-Woo is cautious, intelligent and cunning, but willing to throw away his empathy for the sake of winning.
These are the ingredients that make the final game (Squid Game) so compelling, as you finally see the full-on conflict between the pair. It's a bloody showdown as they go to war with each other in a full-on fight.
By the end, it seems that Gi-Hun has claimed the victory. However, his true nature kicks in, and he chooses to try and save Sang-Woo's life by quitting the game. But, Sang-Woo gives one last act of redemption, as he takes his own life and gifts the win to Gi-Hun.
This moment put the final stamp on the character of Sang-Woo. Although it didn't wash away his sins, it at least sent him out on a good note.
