10 Most Underappreciated Seasons Of Cult-Favourite TV Shows

6. Season 11 - The X-Files

After the fairly lackluster revival season of The X-Files, many long-term fans were wondering if it was worth the producers pursuing another season. The main story arc of the show had gone down the pan years ago, and the handful of Monster-of-the-Week episodes that the revival season had weren't enough to reignite fan's passions - well aside from 'Mulder and Scully Meet the Were-Monster', that one was brilliant.

Eventually, season eleven came about and was immediately reviled for its opening episode. One that brought about a highly disturbing revelation that really didn't sit well with long-time viewers.

Aside from the terrible story-telling in its arc-significant episodes, season eleven is a much more successful attempt at bringing The X-Files into the modern-day. With a greater emphasis on the spine-tingling Monster-of-the-Week episodes, as opposed to the disgustingly convoluted plot.

Each standalone episode in this season is fantastic and brimming with the kind of creativity and terror that the show was capable of back in its heyday. With episodes like 'Plus One', 'The Lost Art of Forehead Sweat' and the genuinely scary 'Familiar' being amongst the best episodes that the show has ever produced.

Skip the first and last episodes and you'll have a great time.
