10 Most Underrated Actresses Currently Working In Television

8. Jamie Clayton (Sense8)

Orphan Black Helena
Netflix

Even in a cast that's absolutely littered with fresh, young talent, Jamie Clayton finds a way to stand head-and-shoulders above the rest with a perceptive, shaded performance as Nomi Marks, a transgender political blogger and hacker extraordinaire.

Clayton herself is transgender, which made it easy for the actress to sink into her onscreen relationship with Freema Agyeman. It's refreshing to see a trans woman portrayed without an excessive amount of baggage or grandstanding.

And honestly, that's the least interesting part of her depiction. It's the way Clayton effortlessly plays up Nomi's soft vulnerability in the face of a traumatic medical diagnosis - without devolving into self-pity - while still finding a way to exude compassion for everyone around her.

Clayton is one of the show's anchors, and her dominant performance hopefully means we'll be seeing her name in the Emmy nominations one of these years.
