10 Most Underrated Actresses Currently Working In Television

5. Mindy Kaling (The Mindy Project)

Orphan Black Helena
NBC Universal

There might be an urge by some to classify Mindy Kaling as overrated, given the significant amount of press she earned following the debut of her show The Mindy Project. But now that the project has made the jump from a major network to its spot as a Hulu exclusive, it seems like the world is primed to forget about Mindy.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, would be a massive shame. Let's forget about her as a feminine role model for a moment. And disregard the fact that she's one of the few Indian women on television in a principal role. And set aside the fact that she made the "impossible" leap from a secondary role on The Office to being the star of her own, uniquely-voiced TV show with her name in the title.

Mindy is just...so f--king funny.

It's great that she's all those other things to people, but above all else, she's simply too funny to ignore. She has the ability to wring a laugh from any situation, and can get away with saying things very few others would be able to do without coming off as giant d*cks, just because her delivery is that perfect blend of sweet naïveté and robust narcissism.
